Women in Agritech Summit During the International Year of Women Farmers

Johannesburg, South Africa – 15 June 2026 – AgriWeb, South Africa’s leading digital agriculture media and events platform, has announced the launch of the inaugural Women in Agritech Summit, a high-level gathering dedicated to advancing women’s leadership, innovation, and impact in African agriculture.

The summit will take place on 5 August 2026 at the Hotel Sky Sandton in Johannesburg, strategically timed during Women’s Month and aligned with the global observance of the International Year of Women Farmers.

Theme: Women Building Africa’s Digital Agriculture Future

Under the theme “Women Building Africa’s Digital Agriculture Future”, the summit will explore how women leaders across finance, technology, agribusiness, policy, and research are shaping a more competitive, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural sector through digital innovation.

Agriculture in Africa is undergoing rapid transformation — from artificial intelligence and satellite monitoring to digital marketplaces, climate-smart solutions, and innovative financing models. Yet significant barriers remain around access to capital, technology adoption, market participation, and leadership opportunities for women, who constitute approximately 43% of the agricultural labour force.

The Women in Agritech Summit has been designed as a solutions-focused platform that brings together decision-makers to tackle these challenges and accelerate meaningful progress.

“The future of African agriculture will not be built through technology alone. It will be built through leadership, collaboration, investment, and inclusion,” said Addy Mabasa,Commercial Director of AgriWeb.

“Women are increasingly at the forefront of agritech innovation, financing models, and sustainable value chains. This summit creates a powerful space for strategic dialogue and actionable outcomes.”
